Cuckoo Haus before... stocking the stands

The weather today was overcast and did not hold any promise for a change for the better later in the day as hurricane Isabel approached. The game stands were being stocked as well as many of the other stands.

Cuckoo Haus after... The Wall of Death

There were some precautionary preparations made to some of the rides to brace against the expected wind. At the start of the day the Cuckoo Haus (pictured at the top of the page) among other fun houses had been set up completely but as evening approached any excess scenery that the wind could catch and damage was taken down or secured against the trailer of the ride. The wall of death also took the canopy down.

The exhibit buildings are filling up as many items are beautifully displayed. The stands under the grandstand and inside the millennium hall buildings are also getting filled. Final preparations were going on as most are getting ready to be open tomorrow (Friday) for the unofficial first day.

A bit windy... A bit windy...

As evening wore on and the winds picked up several canopies and tents could be found bellowing in the gusts. Those that are not properly secured might not last the night without being torn or having their poles bent. Some fencing around the mechanical bull located on the east end blew over.

My next report will be posted Friday night. Until then remember Fair is right around the corner! I can hardly wait!
