It rained off and on today causing there to be a sparse crowd on the unofficial first day. Most food stands remained closed as a result. There were several game stands open for business and the rides were up and running as of 4:00 p.m. However, not many people were playing or riding.

The annual vesper service went on as scheduled. Awards for flags were handed out and thanks was given for the minimal amount of damage on the fairgrounds caused by the storm. Some groups could not make the trip to the fair as a result of more severe damage in their area.
The schedule for the free bandshell entertainment is:
11:00 a.m. - Re-Creation
12:00 p.m. - Buffalo & Brandy
1:15 p.m. - John Bressler
2:45 p.m. Ryan Pelton "Elvis Returns"
4:00 p.m. - Buffalo & Brandy
5:15 p.m. - Re-Creation
6:45 p.m. - John Bressler
8:30 p.m. - Ryan Pelton "Elvis Returns"

The rides and most other stands called it a day around 8:00 p.m. due to lack of customers. The weather should be much nicer for the official first day though and a large crowd is expected. Don't forget the figure 8 race is at 1:00 p.m. at the grandstand. Billy Ray Cyrus & Darryl Worley will be gracing the stage at 7:30 p.m. for what promises to be a great show.
My next report will be posted Saturday night. Until then remember Fair is right around the corner! I can hardly wait!
