Hello everyone. It started out nice and sunny but as the morning progressed so did the clouds. The breeze was a bit chilly but it didn't get down right cold until the sun started to go down at which time you really needed a jacket. Tomorrow's forcast calls for rain to start in the late afternoon so be sure to bring an umbrella or poncho. If it does rain tomorrow the fireworks will be postponed until Friday at 10:00 p.m.
There is a stand on 12th Street that sells wooden gliders, porch swings and other outdoor items. I especially like the water wheel. The one pictured above is the larger one.
If you haven't ventured 'neath the old grand stand you really should do so. There is a wide variety of things to look at and buy. You can even find pigs and cows that fly! There's a man who makes your name into a pin out of gold wire. There's flag poles, safes, Indian items and fudge to name a few.
This morning the Riverside Marching Band made its way around the fairgrounds. At the end of Machinery Row where the chimps are you can also find the zebra from the movie Racing Stripes. He is only brought out after the chimp show for a little while so if you watch the chimps be sure to check out the zebra. Show times for the chimps are at 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., & 7:00 p.m.
The concert tonight was great! Andy Griggs opened the show to a large crowd. Carrie Underwood had the crowd on their feet screaming and clapping when she played a song by Guns N Roses. They also did the same thoughout her music as well. Tomorrow night is Lonestar at 7:30 p.m.
After the concert much of the crowd left but some lingered, buying something to eat from the few stands that were still serving food such as Gunzey's Hot Sausage and Grotto's Pizza both found along the track on 3rd Street.
The rides had some business today but not as much as they will tomorrow since it as well as Friday are P.O.P. (Pay One Price) days. If you need a discount ride coupon I have some yet if you stop by the Fairground Information Booth right outside of the fair office between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. which is where I'll be as long as it isn't raining.
My next report will be posted tomorrow. Be sure to check out the video and pictures of the day. Also, remember that if there is anything you would like me to report on just email me and I will see what I can do to accommodate.
