Midway Report September 24, '07

Beautiful Day Beautiful Day

Hello everyone. The weather was hot today. Temperatures hit the mid 80s. It cooled off after dark but wasn't quite as chilly as last night. Tomorrow the temperatures are supposed to be much the same.

Good Crowd Good Crowd

Yesterday's attendance was 60,968. The turnout for Senior Citizen day was pretty good but I don't think we broke any records. Perhaps it was too warm for some.

Animals of Distinction Animals of Distinction

Another great show to catch is "Animals of Distinction" found on the Millennium Hall Stage on the east end of the grounds. These dogs are very talented and there's a good lesson to be learned as well so if you're in the area check them out.

Roan's Apple Dumplings Benton Cider Mill

Some very popular places to get fair treats are Roan's Apple Dumplings and the Benton Cider Mill. Both are located near the farm museum near the west end of the track. Roan's is said to have the best apple dumplings. If you look you will see them peeling the apples right there. Also made fresh on the grounds, the Benton Cider Mill stand presses the apples in the booth so you know it's got to be good.

Rides Rides

The rides were running with lots of room for more riders today. Tomorrow is one of three handstamp days so for those who don't want to pay a small fortune for ride tickets, pay only $17 with coupon or $19 without and you can ride all day. Thursday and Friday are also handstamp days, however, Friday only honors the handstamp until 7:00 p.m. Also, students age 13 and over are admitted free to the grounds Tuesday and Friday.

My next report will be posted tomorrow. I hope to begin the progressive reports soon. Be sure to check out the video and pictures of the day. Also, remember that if there is anything you would like me to report on just email me and I will see what I can do to accommodate.
