Rainbow Rain on the Way

Hello everyone. It was a dreary start today as some showers lingered from last night. It did clear up in the afternoon and even graced us with a rainbow. There was one more shower just before 8:00 p.m. that dampened fairgoers. The temperature only hit the mid 70's today. Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be dry and cool so be sure to bring a jacket for after dark.

Good Crowd Good Crowd

The attendance for yesterday was 31,327. There was a good crowd today despite the rain. I'm sure there would have been more if it hadn't rained earlier in the day. Tomorrow is going to be the perfect fair weather day and should draw the largest crowd we've had all week.

Terry Lee Goffee Terry Lee Goffee

Terry Lee Goffee drew a large crowd as he performed free on the bandshell. He is a Johnny Cash tribute artist and let me tell you, he does the legend justice. He will be performing tomorrow as well so be sure to check him out.

Taylor Hicks Taylor Hicks

Taylor Hicks put on an energetic show tonight. I don't think he stood still for more than a few seconds. There wasn't a large crowd but those who attended sure were getting into the upbeat tunes. Tomorrow is the Demolition Derby at noon and the Tractor and Truck Pulling competition at 7:00 p.m.

This Little Piggy is Locked Up... ...This Little Piggy Gets Out

While strolling the south side of the fairgrounds be sure to check out the different animals such as horses, sheep, pigs, swine, rabbits, and cows. Here was a pig that just wasn't happy being locked in a pin. Pigs may not be able to fly but they can jump when they're motivated enough.

Cole's Oyster Stand Spaghetti Ice Cream

Cole's Oyster Stand is a popular stand that has been on the fairgrounds since 1864. It is located next to the Paddock across from the Race Secretary's Office on the west end of the track. A new item this year is Spaghetti Ice Cream. This delectable treat is found at Becky's Soft Serve on D Ave. near the Bandshell.

Rides Rides

There were quite a few taking advantage of the final P.O.P. ride special. I know I've been lacking ride reports but most of the rides here I've already done reports about. I will do a ride report today on Storm. I will also do a ride report tomorrow on the Orbiter. Tomorrow is the last day so be sure to get your fill of the fair before it's gone for another year.

Carl

Tonight ended on a tragic note for many who knew Carl "Doc" Poust. Word spread fast among the medics that Carl had been killed in a car accident around 8:00 p.m. Carl was an area paramedic and friend to many, myself included. For those of you who knew him and even those who did not, please take a moment to honor his memory. He will live on in the hearts of all he has touched. Please also say a prayer for his wife and children who were in the vehicle with him and who are being treated for their injuries.

My next report will be posted tomorrow. Be sure to check out the video and pictures of the day. Also, remember that if there is anything you would like me to report on just email me and I will see what I can do to accommodate.
